The Economist Intelligence Unit predicts that exports from East and Southeast Asian countries will decline significantly in the first half of 2026. China, the U.S.’s biggest enemy, is still projected to maintain positive growth, Taiwan is expected to be hit the hardest. I would speculate that the Economist’s forecast is based on the expectation that Trump will impose significant tariffs on semiconductors in the future.
